For day care our entire facility (including the outside) is disinfection on average every 3 1/2 hours with a bacteria/fungicide/virucide. (All dog bedding is also washed and disinfected). We monitor the dog's behavior and any dog that is too aggressive is placed in time-out and isolated from the group. If there is a relatively severe encounter the dog is asked to leave and the expulsion is mandatory.
- What are the Requirements for Day Care?
-
All dogs must be spayed and/or neutered by six months(larger breeds by 8-1 0months) of age and be current vaccinations which includes Rabies, Distemper-Parvo(DHLPP), Canine influenza virus (CIV)and Intra-trac/Bordetella (kennel cough). We understand that puppies do get series of vaccines starting at 8 weeks of age up to 20 weeks, however, they must be at least 16 weeks of age having had their third DHLPP,Bordetella and CIV to participate in day care. Its very important to help build up their immunity when be exposed to various places and being susceptible during that critical age period. Negative stool sample results are also a requirement. Your veterinarian can also email, call or fax over any of the above information. Your pets safety and happiness is our biggest concern.
Those dogs that have had allergic reactions to particular vaccines can also still attend day care with a written waiver and titer test from your veterinarian.
- What Type of Dogs Will My Dog Play With While in Day Care?
-
All new day care "kids" have a pre-screening and enrollment form completed prior to interacting with our current day care groups. All dogs are placed by size, personality, energy level into a group where they can be safe and happy.
- Can My Dog Stay All Day While Being Groomed?
-
We generally ask that grooming dogs to be picked up after their spa treatment is complete. Since we schedule all clients from start to finish. We'd prefer not to stress any dogs while waiting to be picked up. Some dogs may have high anxiety and we don't want to create an unpleasant atmosphere for those other dogs that are being groomed. The less anxiety for them , the more pleasant their visit will be .An additional charge for 1/2 day of doggie day care is applied and your dog must have proof of vaccination for Rabies, Distemper/Parvo(DHLPP) ,Civ and Intra-trac/Bordetella (kennel cough). They do not interact with other dogs if you are specifically a grooming client. See day care requirements.
- How Often Should My Dog be Groomed?
-
The length and condition of your dog's coat will determine the frequency of grooming. We recommend every 4-6 weeks to keep your pet in the best shape. Nail trimming should be done at least once a month. See our how to save section for discounts for regular customers and joining our "Manicure Club" or "VIP"(very important pooch).
All grooms always include ear cleaning ,nail trimming and pawdicure.
- What Products do you Use for Grooming?
-
Depending on the condition of your dog's coat we use our La•De•Da line and Eqyss products to relieve problem skin conditions including dry itchy areas, hot spots, allergies and fleas (see our grooming section for more info).
We also use topical moisturizing , medicated, voluming and nourishing leave-in sprays that are all natural , hypoallergenic and do not contain alcohol nor silicone. All of these products can be used before, during, between and after baths. Some additional fees may apply.
- How Long Will it Take for My Dog to be Groomed?
-
The coat length, style of groom, condition, hand drying time and behavior of your pet will determine the time it takes for grooming. A thick Golden Retriever orCollie in full coats may take 3hours . Where as another Golden may take only 90 minutes because of better maintenance, thinner coat, better condition or even shaved for warmer months or matted coat. Our appointments are start to finish. We want your pet to have the ultimate experience in a stress free environment. Therefore, from the moment your pet arrives he or she is started and worked with until bath , blow dry and hair cut is complete. We will call you as soon as your pet is done. This makes a much more pleasant experience for those dogs that may be nervous or have anxiety while waiting to be picked up. La-De-Da wants our to be happy coming in and happy going home.
